Carnegie Single Shelving

From the late 1800s through the 1920s, Scottish businessman Andrew Carnegie helped to fund the building of thousands of libraries around the world – 1,500 in America alone. Our bookshelf is an exact reproduction of the innovative open-stack shelving that made books in the Carnegie libraries accessible to patrons without help from a librarian. Created by Snead & Co. Ironworks in the 1920s, the modular, two-sided design allows for multiple levels of shelf adjustment on each side, so it can be configured to suit your collection precisely.
