Cape Henry Lighthouse Blueprints
Expertly reproduced in blueprint blue, our renderings depict Cape Henry Lighthouse, which still stands where the Jamestown settlers landed in Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. Constructed during the presidency of George Washington, who helped to select the first keeper, it guided ships into the bay until 1878. The United States Lighthouse Board created these illustrations that same year, recording the exterior elevation as well as a cross-section of the stairs climbed by a century of keepers.
