Who We Are

Restoration Hardware was founded nearly 30 years ago when out of frustration, our founder; Stephen Gordon was restoring his Queen Anne Victorian house in Eureka, California. After spending endless days tracking down missing bits and pieces of authentic period hardware, lighting fixtures and finishes, Gordon found there were a lot of people with the same problems. He sensed a need in the marketplace, found his true calling in life, and opened the first Restoration Hardware store in his home in 1980.

Today, we’ve become one of the leading purveyors of premium home furnishings, operating a multi-channel, multi-brand, multi-market business. What has remained constant over all these years is an unyielding passion for quality-exceptional design, impeccable craftsmanship and enduring value.

We currently operate more than 100 retail and outlet store locations in the United States and Canada, as well as a rapidly growing direct to consumer business that included stand alone catalogs and e-commerce sites restorationhardware.com and rhbabyandchild.com. Our family of catalogs has grown from the core Home catalog to include a dedicated Garden & Outdoor book showcasing premium outdoor furniture and textiles, a Gift catalog featuring unique items that bring a touch of wit and whimsy to the holiday and our brand extension, Baby and Child. We want to surround ourselves with what we love. We want to inspire laughter as well as thought.

Throughout our stores, home office, catalogs and web sites we provide our customers with an exceptionally well-merchandized world of the highest quality bed and bath lines from Italy, hand-knotted rugs from the Far East, bath fittings cast in Italy, along with elegant furniture, lighting, bath ware, hardware and unique discovery items. Inside our stores, customers are welcomed by the most knowledgeable sales associates in the business that operates with an absolute dedication to customer service.

Home Office
We are based in beautiful Marin County, just a short drive over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Our sunny, low-rise offices are abuzz with talented, creative folks who are passionate about the work they do. Such industriousness notwithstanding, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

Our offices are just two minutes from Highway 101, making for a pleasant reverse commute from the city, as well as an easy drive from the East Bay via the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. And there's plenty of free parking right outside the door.

Nearby you'll find all manner of interesting choices for eating and shopping -- not the least of which is our newly expanded flagship gallery store in The Village at Corte Madera.

What is the interview process with Restoration Hardware?

All resumes are reviewed by our recruiting department. If your skills and qualifications fit with one of our open positions, you will be contacted for an interview. In addition, your resume is entered into our database for our recruiters to access for future opportunities. If you are invited for an interview, you will meet with several different hiring leaders, which may require several visits to our campus.

At our headquarters location, we are a business casual work environment.

How do I find out if there are any positions available in a specific store?

Each store is responsible for handling its own hiring needs. Putting the responsibility at the local level helps ensure we are hiring from the community. It also encourages a more personal interaction with store leadership.
