18th C. French Burlap Chair
$1295 Special $1140
Inspired by an 18th-century Louis XIII highback armchair, ours is a faithful reproduction. Employing the same craftsman techniques used 350 years ago, its burnished solid oak legs, arms and stretchers are hand-turned on a lathe while it bears the hallmark of mortise-and-tenon construction. The formal detailing is relaxed and balanced by a distressed finish, rustic tea-stained burlap upholstery and hand-hammered upholsterer's brads.
- Hand built with a solid oak frame using mortise-and-tenon joinery
- Arms and legs have been physically distressed to look like the originals
- Padded seat and back are upholstered in tea-stained burlap, edged in hand-hammered brads
- Deep walnut finish is distressed with nicks and cracks, recalling the original antique
- Finish is hand-applied and hand-rubbed with stains, shellacs and wax
- This item is artisan crafted with meticulous care. Given its handmade and hand-finished nature, variations in the wood or metal work are to be expected and celebrated. Each item is unique and no two are exactly alike. Quantities are limited.
