Once upon a time, families in small Hungarian villages pickled the famous local white peppers in these mouth-blown jars. The advent of the freezer and canning retired the practice, and the jars waited safely in storage for the better part of the last century. We recently discovered a cache of these clear glass jars in Hungary, now 40 to 80 years old, and immediately recognized their beauty and utility.
